The Yakka Reef is one of 3 new reefs 2 kilometres offshore from Frankston 11 metres deep.

GPS coordinates for the Yakka Reef are: E 145°05.479' S 38°08.483'

Snapper are likely to be the main species to take up residence on the reefs. Other species include leatherjackets, wrasse, longfin pike, flathead, King George whiting, yellowtail scad, silver trevally and possibly yellowtail kingfish.

The reef consists of 96 reef balls placed in an area of 50 square metres.

Reef balls are dome-shaped concrete structure with rough stony surface and number of holes in them to attract marine life.
